I am renovating my house. My HVAC contractor is trying to talk us into a 95% AFUE. Is it worth the extra money and is it truely that more efficient? Any help would be great as soon as posible .Thanks
I dont know what the bid is (pricing forbidden here).
Why not spend a few dollars more for the better option?
I would say YES..

I also installed 95% AFUE furnace and it is much quiter than my old one, so for the savvings and the comfort of it, invest a little more but it will be worth the money

Obviously the higher the rating the better your furnace and for the difference which is only few hundred dollard go for the best out there. 95 % efficient furnace will save you more on your energy bills and will give you a better service
I just had a 95% 2 stae variable speed furnace installed and cant be more satisfied, difference between 95% and 92% furnaces was only $500 however savings and quality is worth it. In addition we received government rebater for $250 for a 95% efficiency furnace and lower efficiency furnaces do not qualify for this rebate
Get 95% AFUE furnace and make sue you’ll get OPA rebate $250. The price difference between 92% and 95% is about $500 but you are already getting furnace rebate for $250 so you are only paying a little more and getting better furnace which works quiter, gets your house warm in all rooms and consumes less gas. Get Amana or Goodman those are very good brands for furnaces as they have the best warranties
