I recently came accross article in The Star by Ellen Roseman that Direct Energy is selling its Ontario home and small commercial services business to EnerCare, an affiliated company, for $550 million in a deal expected to close later this year.When i tried calling Direct Energy to find out whats happening and who is going to service my rental hot water heater that i rent from Direct Energy (Direct Energy water heater ) , CSR could not give any clear answers and said she has no idea of what i am talking about. But this article clearly states that Direct Energy water heater services was sold, can anybody give me some info on this and whats going to happen to my rental Direct Energy water heater? Thanx

I had direct energy water heater for 10 years and when I called them asking for an upgrade I was told that everything is fine with it and i should call back only if it breaks. So then I called Summitt and had them replace my tank for free, I’m happy i change my tank and no longer with direct energy, they weren’t good anyways. My suggestions upgrade to a new tank rental with a different supplier! You never know whats going to happen to your service with direct energy if they are sold. You might be stuck with a old tank.
