We bought house 2 years ago and the furnace is a mid efficiency furnace Lennox. Over the last year we found that our Hydro Bills are going up. In addition it takes a very long time for the furnace to warm up the house and still it feel very uncomfortable, the house has cold spots and the air is not disrtibuted evenly. Our old house didnt have this problem and it would warm up in less than 10 minutes. Funny enough this furnace is only 5 years old and i am not sure whether the problem is with the fact that it is a mid efficinecy furnace or is there something wrong with it? Does anybody else have this problem? what’s your suggestions?

In terms of comfort it also might depend on your thermostat settings, check it out, but generally speaking high efficiency furnace of course is better but since your furnace is only 5 years old you might want to wait on the replacement

How big is your house? Also is your basement finished or unfinished? If you finished your basement after the furnce was installed then it is possible the size of the furnace is now too small and you need to get a bigger volume furnace as thats what happened to my parents house.
