I have 13 years old water heater. I thought that I am renting it from Enbridge. When I had an emergency situation I called Enbridge and was redirected to the Direct Energy. My water heater was leaking really bad , almost flooded my basement. Direct Energy sent a technitian who inspected my tank and said that it needs to be peplaced with a new one. The replacement is free and I just need to pay for some venting change 395.00$.
My question is why do I have to pay for the new venting if the water heater is not even my , it is rental. I am a single mother and it will really reap up my pocket. I am looking for an advise. Please help me.- This topic was modified 9 years, 3 months ago by [email protected].
July 15, 2012 at 10:44 pm #5118[email protected]KeymasterYou have other options. There are number of companies out there doing the same thing, upgrading hot water heaters and most of them will upgrade your venting free of charge. I had mine done not too long ago, we had a guy come to our door and explained it very thoroughly to us, it is all under Enbridge bill and everything was free of charge. Google companies such as National, Summitt, Reliance and there are few other small companies, but be sure to read terms and conditions for the term as some of them including Direct Energy lock you for a long term contract now. You dont have to pay for the new installation, one of those other companies will do it free of charge.

When you are replacing your rental hot water heater they normally upgrade the piping free of charge. Call Direct Home Ontario, they replaced my hot water heater and venting free of charge and so far it works great.
