My furnace is about 24 years old and seems like it won’t last another winter. We’re seniors and don’t have the funds to purchase a new one. Should I rent my furnace from Enercare or reliance? Right now we have a protection plan from Reliance for $24/month and last year we experienced 4 problems in one winter, so we think its best we replace the unit. Does anyone have some suggestions for what our best option is?
My suggestion is that you don’t rent your water heater. Purchasing is the way to go if your financial situation allows it. Home Depot and Lowes sell a variety of furnaces. I purchased my Lennox furnace from Home Depot 5 years ago and I’m glad I didn’t choose to rent.
Whatever you do, dont go with Enercare !!! longest contracts on the market. youll be tied down to that contract for at least 15 years and your rental rates will keep going up. shop around and always read the contract !! there are better deals than enercare
Friend of mine wanted to put his house as collateral for his business. He needed to pay off his reliance rental furnace and hot water tank. He did and 3 months later it broke down. He called them and they said no warranty. After you stop paying for it they stop servicing it as well. They only service you if you’re still making monthly payments. You pay it off and service ends.
