I purchased mine and as ipad73 mentioned bought extended warranty which fully covers me for parts and labour, but i was also considering rent as thats a good idea if you are planning to sell your home anytime soon, rental normally is transfered under the new owners same as hot water heaters.
love4UMemberIts your call but i personally would not want to pay money for a new furnace if mine was only 5 years old even if it is a mid efficinet furnace
August 13, 2012 at 12:26 am in reply to: Air Duct Cleaning for Toronto region need suggestions #5885love4UMemberi dont suggest going with the cheap service as i faced this dilema before. I called some company who promissed duct cleaning for $99, they sent chines guy who hardly spoke English and it turned out that this was not a full duct cleaning service, it was only partial and he told me that i had to pay extra for each grill, furnace cleaning, sanitization and whole bunch of other things and that if i wanted a full duct cleaning service then it would cst me $460 dollars. I ended up paying him $99 and then called a different comapny who did a full duct cleaning service for $230 for my whole house, so dont think that cheaper is better.
love4UMemberAs far as i know they promissed to bring the rebates back but i am not sure if they will though as last year they announced the come back of government rebated early August for Ontario but we still have not heard anything from the government this year
love4UMemberYes you are absolutely right you need to get specific coil for your air conditioner and in addition in certain cases your furnace also needs to be a specific efficiency level, i will try to find a list for you, you can probably search it up online as well which will give you exact information as to which coil ou need. But be sure to search up by a specific brand of your air conditioner as different brans might require different coils
August 6, 2012 at 12:27 am in reply to: Is it worth to buy a new furnace or repair my old 10 yrs old? #5736love4UMemberI just got 95% high efficiency furnace installed in my house recently and it makes a big difference already. First of all it is much quiter and eventhough it is not winter yeat i already saw the savings on my energy bills. Plus there is a 10 years warranly on parts and labour, so i agree they are manufactured to last you 10 years and then start causing problems, so get it done and dont waste your time and money fixing it. If you dont have the finances available tp purchase it, check out different financing options that are available

I also installed 95% AFUE furnace and it is much quiter than my old one, so for the savvings and the comfort of it, invest a little more but it will be worth the money
July 30, 2012 at 12:59 am in reply to: Water Heater flooded my basement who is repsonsible for the damages? #5532love4UMemberTry getting to a higher management, since you are renting they should be responsible for this, its their unit that caused you problems.Make a big deal out of it. I am surprised they only fixed it for you and didnt replace the tank to a new one. The worst case scenario you will need to go through your home insurance.
love4UMemberThanks guys this was helpful i actually thought that i also was renting from Enbridge but it turned out my 12 yrs old tank is also from Direct Energy, i called them but they said everything is ok with my tank and they would only replace it if it leaked or broke. After reading all these posts about tank leaks i just had mine done, this gived me peace of mind now 🙂
love4UMemberI need a new one……
