Enbridge Home Energy Conservation program is closed June 16, 2015
Enbridge Home Energy Conservation program
As of June 16, 2015, Enbridge Home Energy Conservation program is no longer accepting new applicants for the remainder of 2015. Due to an overwhelming response to the program we have reached the maximum number of enrollments.
The 2015 Home Energy Conservation program is closed to new applicants. If you had not scheduled a pre-retrofit energy audit prior to June 16, 2015 with a Certified Energy Auditor then you are not eligible for the 2015 Home Energy Conservation Program. Your pre-retrofit energy audit can take place after June 16, 2015, but must have been scheduled prior to June 16, 2015 to qualify for the incentive.
In order to qualify for an incentive under the 2015 Home Energy Conservation program, a customer must complete their recommended home energy upgrades and post-retrofit audit by July 31, 2015.
Home Energy Conservation Program Q&A
Q. Why is the Home Energy Conservation program ending?
A. The current program enrollment is higher than anticipated. Based on the allocated budget for the program by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), Enbridge Gas Distribution has made the decision to stop future enrollments for 2015. Enbridge Gas is regulated by the Ontario Energy Board and all energy conservation programs have to operate within an approved framework.
Q. When is the final day that I’m allowed to enroll in the program?
A. The final day to enroll for the program was June 15, 2015.
Q. Prior to June 15, 2015 I scheduled a pre-retrofit energy audit with a Certified Energy Auditor. Am I still eligible to receive the incentive?
A. Yes, if the recommended home energy upgrades and post-retrofit energy audit are completed by July 31, 2015. Your scheduled/completed energy audit will be honoured as enrollment and you are eligible to receive the incentive assuming you meet the qualifications required (e.g. installation of two measures, a minimum of 25% annual gas savings and completed the post-retrofit energy audit.)
Q. I have already completed my home energy upgrades to qualify for the incentive. Will I still be eligible for the incentive?
A. If the home energy upgrades and the post-retrofit energy audit are completed by July 31, 2015, then you will be eligible for the incentive. Please call your Certified Energy Auditor to book the post-retrofit energy audit.
Q. My contractor mentioned that I am eligible for the incentive but I haven’t spoken to a Certified Energy Auditor yet. Does that mean I’m no longer eligible to apply for the program incentive?
A. Correct. You are not eligible to apply for the program as Enbridge Gas Distribution cannot accept new enrollments at this time. Enrollment in the 2015 Home Energy Conservation program is currently based on having scheduled the pre-retrofit energy audit prior to June 16, 2015.
Q. Will this program or similar opportunity be available in 2016?
A. Enbridge Gas Distribution has proposed to our regulator, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) that this program runs from 2016 to 2020. If the OEB approves the program with the same program requirements of two measures and a minimum of 25% annual gas savings followed by a post-retrofit energy audit, then Enbridge Gas Distribution will allow all customers currently enrolled to qualify for the 2016 program and incentive. If the program continues, the incentive value may change and those enrolled in 2015 would be incented based on the 2016 incentive structure
