7 Ways to Save Energy this Holiday Season
The holiday season is nearly here. Save Energy with holiday Tips
Holiday planning requires a lot of energy, but most people are not thinking about energy usage when it comes to holiday lights, beautiful decorations, cooking, and entertaining but everyone wants to save energy.
Here are some suggestions that can help you save energy during the holiday season.
Decorate you home with LED Holiday Lights – LED lights are the bright and smart choice when decorating your home. Also, LED light strings last about 10 times longer and save energy.
Buy energy star electronics – Energy Star certified electronics – TVs, DVD players, VCRs and cordless phones – use up to 60 – less electricity that their non-certified counterparts
Use timers on your outside lighting – Don’t leave your lights on all night; set them to timers so they turn off when you are asleep.
Bake Several Dishes at a Time – The holiday season is a big time for baking. Make the most of your oven and the energy that goes into heating it, by cooking several dishes at once.
Choose glass or ceramic pans for the oven – These pans heat faster than metal ones and allow you to set the temperature 25 degrees lower than a recipe suggests for the same cooking time and will save energy consumption.
Use the Smallest Appliance to Get the Job Done – Use your microwave and toaster oven for small holiday cooking tasks; save the oven for big cooking tasks.
Turn down the thermostat – When your guests arrive, be sure to turn down the thermostat—the combination of the stove, the hot food, and the warm bodies should keep the house plenty comfortable. Turning down the thermostat by couple of degrees will save energy and lower your utility bills.
